Fun reading for a Monday morning: The Religious Experience of Philip K. Dick.
I finally saw Minority Report last week after hearing every possible spoiler and still enjoyed it for the most part. I think they managed to capture the essential plot mechanism of the original short story, for one thing. I think short stories tend to make better movies than novels do. They are closer to the right length most of the time. You can flesh them out rather than hugely simplifying them.
Is it time to re-read the Valis trilogy yet? When I read A Scanner Darkly it made me cry at the end like I hadn’t since finishing Of Mice and Men in 7th grade.
