Because these are very serious people treating us with respect, our new overlords declared once a judge lifted his stay, that the deferred resignation program was closed to new entrants at 4:20 on pacific time. Maybe now we can stop hearing about this meshugganah fork, at least?
In the meantime, they semi rolled out a first round of layoff threats aimed at our first-year probationers, except it was the usual deliberately cruel clownshow and it’s not clear even the next day if any dismissal emails have actually gone out, particularly after OPM reportedly urged agency heads to tread carefully lest they run afoul of laws against arbitrary and capricious firings.
In the meantime it was good to see my colleagues over a beer, and reflect on how strong, decent, and caring we are as individuals and even moreso as a unified group.
