As I get more into this fediverse thing I want to start trying to wean my photos off of Instagram / Bookface and my videos off of YouTube / same. Just as Mastodon is an open federated microblogging service akin to Twitter, Pixelfed and Peertube and federated photo and video services.
Just so, I have established myself now as mediajunkie@pixelfed.social but it seems a bit… hinkier than Mastodon so far?
The web UI is OK, a bit funky. It makes adding an image description an advanced extra step each time, and when I tried to follow my pixelfed account from my mastodon account, it appears as pending my approval over there, but there is no indication on my pixelfed account of a pending follow request.
