We managed to schedule on more studio date last year, on December 6, to mix down tracks for No One Does It Solo Only. I had my knee replacement in November. Did I mention that? Maybe that’s worth a blog post too at some point, but anyhow it wasn’t really possible for me to get into the studio for this session.
Carnegie Hill
While I am still laid up with a new knee, my producers (David and Jeremy) went back into the studio to continue working on preliminary mixes. Since two of the tracks had John Hanes on drums recorded the same day, it ended up making sense to work on those two next.
First up, “Carnegie Hill,” which is also the first song I wrote of the batch we’re recording for this album:
Some Other Time
The other song that David and Jeremy mixed at Goody Sound on Friday is “Some Other Time” and that’s actually the last of the twelve songs I wrote for this record. Besides dialing in the sound on John’s drums and re-amping David’s guitar and my ukulele, we also tweaked the backing vocals on the choruses and made a bunch of other little adjustments:
