And you can sing along

Because of a variety of scheduling vicissitudes (some good, some less so, but all’s well that ends well) we got back to Goody Sound last week with singer Lorna Kollmeyer, who added her voice to three of the songs on the record (with more to come, stay tuned).

Side note: I sing all twelve tunes on this album and that’s… a lot of my voice. I probably like my own voice better than most people do and that’s even a lot for me with no respite. My range and sound suggest to me a slate blue/grey or maybe a rusty/bronze tone, which has its moments but after a while the ear longs for other timbres, more variety, tension, color, and so on. Enter Lorna!

Carnegie Hill

On “Carnegie Hill” she adds subtle harmony duet vocals to the choruses. This rough mix by engineer Jeremy Goody, produced by David Gans and Jeremy, features David on guitars, Dan Brodnitz on keyboards, John Hanes on drums, Jeremy on bass, Lorna on vocals, and myself on vocals and ukulele:

Sham Song (Chanson)

I love the backing and harmony vocals Lorna adds to “Sham Song”, with David on guitar, Robert Wade on bass, Joe Craven on mandolin, and myself on vocals and ukuleles (electric and acoustic):

All I Know (Song for Finn)

I love the way Lorna’s voice adds rich harmonies to Finn’s song (“All I Know”), the third song we worked on in our session on October 9, 2024:
