The one thing I do know is that introducing even a mild amount of a toxin to an organism triggers a reaction designed to protect sensitive surfaces and vulnerable processes. Lubricants flow. The nose runs. The bowels stir. The coffee, the cigarette do their work. The flow needs spice.

@mediajunkie getting a 504 on the link
do you still smoke?
Nope. But I do drink coffee.
Actually, I have about five cigarettes a year give or take. But I quit cold turkey for at least a decade before I tried that.
you’re one of those lucky bastards. there’s no way i could do that, but at least i have no doubts about it. never want to quit again!
Yeah and it’s not that great. One reason I can do this is it’s so nasty again and my mouth is like an alleyway in the morning but much drier so that’s a huge disincentive to get hooked again.
I have other bad habits, of course.
one hopes
I’m also in the “can never have one cigarette again” category but for some reason occasional cigars don’t re-hook me….
what i really don’t understand is how recovering smokers can smoke pot. that would send me back to smoking just as fast as a regular cigarette.
