Democrats.com says Karl Rove Has Zero Cred on National Security and quotes my favorite straight shooter, Howard Dean:
> Karl Rove only has a White House job and a security clearance because President Bush has refused to keep his promise to fire anyone involved in revealing the identity of an undercover CIA operative. Rove’s political standing gets him an invitation to address Republicans in Washington, DC today, but it doesn’t give him the credibility to question Democrats’ commitment to national security. The truth is, Karl Rove breached our national security for partisan gain and that is both unpatriotic and wrong.

I was also impressed by the directness of Dean’s response.
But I’m depressed by the fact that we only find the remarks on liberal web sites, not on the network news. Rove doesn’t *have* credibility, but he is still *granted* credibility by the MSM.
The announcement that “9/11 justifies everything” will be the ’06 campaign strategy has a grim inevitability. As the numbers continue to drop and circling the wagons becomes more necessary, we’ll hear more and more opining that “security is the Republican’s strong suit.”
for the first time, I heard the MSM (This Week, as it happens) throwing out the possibility that maybe, just maybe, this will finally prove to be a 9/11 too far.
