First impressions

I’m back in the product business. As we get closer to the scheduled June release of No One Does It Solo Only, I have to think about packing, merchandising, distribution, website, and so on. I mean, I like thinking about things like that. I liked it when I was in book publishing, I like it as a digital software user experience designer and product manager, and I like it as a government service modernizer.

I’ve also come to realize that I get my joy from working with a group of people to put together something holistically greater than the sum of its parts. The focus for this record has been the songs and the recording and mixing work for more than two years and now we’ve reached the time when the focus is on digital media files, thumbnails, cover art, layout, typography, and content.

Another one of my happy places, especially now that sleeve designer Rowan Bishop (of Bridge Street Design) has sent me mockup of the proposed CD packaging:

One more piece of the jigsaw puzzle fitting into place.
