We managed to squeeze in a second mixing session last month (January 13, 2025). I wasn’t able to get to Oakland for this session, so I “phoned it in” (well, zoomed it in, I guess) and that seemed to work out just fine. (Produced by David Gans and Jeremy Goody. Recorded, engineered, and mixed by Jeremy at Goody Sound Studio.)
Down to the Mountain
We spent most of the session on “Down to the Mountain.” Lot of parts to get aligned and tweaked on this one but I think it’s really close now. This has Dan Brodnitz on grand piano, Javier Navarrette on percussion, David on guitar and baritone guitar, Myles Boisen on lap steel guitar, Joe Craven on fiddle, Lorna Kollmeyer on vocals, Sarah Gronquist on vocals, Amyellyn Kessler on vocals, and myself on ukulele and lead vocals.
Sham Song
The other one we tuned up yesterday is “Sham Song” (also known as Chanson), which has indeed come a long way:
It’s got David on guitar, Robert Wade on bass, Joe Craven on mandolin, Lorna Kollmeyer on vocals, and myself on vocals and electric and acoustic ukuleles.
Next stop…
This catches up the reporting on the making of No One Does It Solo Only, and Monday we go back into the studio to get at least one more song mixed down, so stay tuned.
